http://volokh.com/archives/archive_2009_08_16-2009_08_22.shtml#1250690548Since I have been out of the country in Japan and Korea, I only just
now noticed that Rose Director Friedman [1]passed away yesterday. Rose
was, of course, best known as Milton Friedman's wife of 68 years. But
she was also a successful economist in her own right, and coauthor of
some of her husband's most famous works, including [2]Free to Choose
, probably the most successful popular work defending free market
economics. She was also, along with Milton, a prominent advocate of
numerous important pro-liberty causes. In her last years, she helped
found and lead the [3]Friedman Foundation, an organization devoted to
promoting school choice.
I would like to extend my sympathies to Rose Friedman's family,
friends, and colleagues. She will be sorely missed.
