Vltor EMod or LMT SOPMOD collapsible stocks

Hi guys,

I'm thinking of swapping out the stock on my Colt M4 and am considering either the Vltor Emod or LMT SOPMOD.  Any recommendations or sharing of experiences with either or any other good alternative is appreciated.

Both of my LWRC Piston Rifles came with Vltor E Mod stocks, and I can't say enough good about them. They are very good looking, and fit extremely well. The rubber pad really has a nice "grippy" surface, and is far more comfortable than the standard M-4, 6 position collapsible stocks on my Bushmaster M-4's. I think if you go with one, you'll really like it, and they are very well priced for what you get.  Bill T.

Beautiful rifle Bill.....thanks for taking the time to post the photos.  The Vltor Emod is a great looking stock. I bet the cheek weld is far better than the standard AR Colt style stock.  That's the primary reason I want to change over my factory Colt M4 stock and the Vltor and LMT SOPMOD seem to have that area covered very well. Is the compartment storage area box on the side panel made of steel or plastic and is the butterfly clasp durable?  I take it you have the Milspec receiver tube?

It is synthetic as is the bulk of the stock except for the steel, molded in rubber butt plate. for me I would give it a "high" durability rating, but with that said, these are hardly the rifles I would "test" that rating with any form of abuse. You bring up a good point about the size of the tube itself. I've never measured it, so I don't know if it is Mil-Spec, or the larger commercial size.  Bill T.
