Remember that EMP only damages electronics that have a power source.  Anything not plugged in or without a battery is usually safe from EMP.  So even the newest car with the battery disconnected should still work after EMP.  So if you have a spare vehicle sittin around you dont drive every day, disconnect the battery cables from the battery.  If you want to get real serious, faraday cages protect from EMP as well, so turn your garage into a giant faraday cage and keep your essential electronics inside, unplugged and without batteries.  Just thought I would add.

Also agree with the useage of neutral colors.  Take for instance the ACUPAT design.  A very neutral design to be used in all environments.  You wont find any black on them like the old Woodland BDUs.

I think you are wrong on that.

+1 on the manual bilge pump too. Thats hould be a pretty easy field expedient build too, even for a duffer like me. All it takes is a 2" or better pvc pipe with a plunger handle and a washer attached (maybe a pvc end cap with an inner tube as a washer
) and a hole with a hose.

EMP will fry civie electronics.  In an EMP hardened structure it will come in on the power leads and say hello.  There is good, but limited, mil-spec information out there on EMP and things you can do to protect for it.  The Faraday cage will help.  Close enough and you may have issues with points and condensors.....which is why the tractor back home has spares.  Storing your spare stuff below ground will be a huge help in an EMP event as well.

There's a mil-spec out there about how to harden your HVAC system to keep EMP coming in from fresh air vents....it is interesting to peruse.
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.
