Had I been on the bike I would have thought I was being robbed. The officer did not identify himself for five seconds yet he drew his gun as he was exiting the car. A lot could have happened in that five seconds had he been a ccw holder. That being said, I don't know too many ccw holders that drive in such a manner to draw this sort of attention.

Stay Focused Guys.

I have deleted the original childish statement and the related posts.

****

I thought that it was a completely ridiculous stop UNTIL the very end of the news segment which implies that there was a marked vehicle with lights attempting to make the traffic stop in the first place. That might mean that the perception of the officer was that the bike was attempting to evade and that is what, in his mind, justified the presentation of his firearm.

As for the "recording a police officer" thing.... ::)

The officers tactics and gun handling could have been much better in about 1000 ways.

That's nice Rob, but here in Fl., home of the weird, land of the strange, we have had an epidemic of fake cops pulling folks over to carjack/rape/rob them over the last few years. I don't always obey the speed limit an have no issue with paying the fine if I'm wrong. BUT, I will not stop for an unmarked vehichle, and if someone with a gun gets out shouting police? Well, I can yell that I'm police too. It doesn't make it so. A dark road, pulled over by two guys waving guns and no uniforrms? I really don't know what I'd do, but defnding myself would not be off the table. I'd like to think I had the presence of mind to dial 911 and hope the dispatcher could solve it by bringing a marked car or giving the cops (if thats what they were) a pass word. Given that, I would surender immedeatly. But an unmarked car, a guy with a gun, out of uniform waving a gun around? To quote Haz, it vould have gotten ugly. Se la guerre.

If your not doing anything wrong, what harm does being record do?

The only thing that can happen from them recording professional contact is, you have more evidence against them.

lol lucky they are not in the UK then..

I agree   they should be using this incident as training on how better to deal with a situation,  not for booking the bloke over it IMO

I still don't get why the officer would need to draw his firearm for a traffic stop

As the video ends, you can see the front end of the Crown Vic behind the bike. No doubt there must have been some radio traffic. Pulling his weapon on a pursuit, justified, sorry don't drive like an _ss and you don't have to worry. Second, how many guys would be able to out draw an already drawn gun? Oh yeah, and on a 500 lbs. bike you are straddling. There is a lot more to this story than what the T.V. station or the biker wants known.

As far as an arrest for the recording, I have a problem with that, but that is what happens when you live in a democratic socialist republic state. My state also has a similar law and is deep blue. :'(

We are constantly reminded that you are being taped audibly or visually in all contacts. Our patrol cars.

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. [Romans 5:8] ::)

Only uniformed officers should be involved in traffic stops. In Texas, unmarked cars are used for traffic control all the time, but they're driven by uniformed police.

Sounds like the charges were made to head off a lawsuit against the state.
