When we lived in Connecticut there was a big push to ask this very question.  It's intent was to demonize guns and gun ownership pure and simple. Peer pressure so that you would not want them if you had kids since only criminals had guns.  Never got asked ourselves, but some of that was the kids ages and where we lived.  My first question would be "Why do you ask?".

I also agree with the swimming pool, abuse, DUI, and what not.
