Another good reply from one of our congressmen in WA.
Thank you for your e-mail regarding HB 3359 (concerning pistol
ammunition). I wanted to provide you with a quick update on this bill.
On February 8, 2008, the legislature marked a key deadline for bills to
be heard in committee in their house of origin, except House fiscal
committees and Senate Ways & Means and Transportation Committees. For
the most part, if a bill has not passed a policy committee, it is no
longer eligible for further consideration. However, there are always
exceptions.
Transportation and Finance matters had a deadline of yesterday, February
12, 2008, and any matter necessary to implement the budget is exempted
from the deadline.
HB 3359 failed to have a hearing in the House Judiciary Committee prior
to yesterday's deadline. Therefore, it is unlikely that this bill will
be successful this Session. However, if HB 3359 somehow makes its way
through the Legislative process and to the House Floor for a vote I will
be sure to keep your comments in mind.
Again, thank you for taking the time to contact my office. Your views
are important to me.
Sincerely,
Richard DeBolt
