I've yet to fire a 458 Lott, but I have fired .458 Win. as well as 45/70, personally I think the 375 has a much worse kick, and that is not legal to hunt Elephant with.

I grew upon Capstick and Hemingway and would love to be shopping for an express rifle. .458 Lott, .600 NE, the various Webleys.... Still, a 4-5 figure gun, $15 a round, a $5- $10k trip and 5 figure trophy fees? I'm just not sure that anything in Africa  has ever pissed me off that badly. ;D  Still, after I win the Power Ball, I'll be singing a different tune. ;) I say go for it and let the tree rats be afraid, be very afraid.

Haven't shot the .458 Lott either, but I did have the chance to fire 3-rounds of .460 Weatherby mag with 500 grain solids...they will get your attention even when fired from standing.

Wonder how the recoil of the Weatherby compares to the Lott?

Really, I didnt think the 375 was bad at all, but then I have yet to fire anything bigger.
