And worst of all the poor fellow was born in Ohio

No, he lived in Galena, IL, on the Mississippi River. Iowa was just a boat ride away!  ;D

Well it's home in the safe

Didn't get a chance to pick up ball ammo so I fed it some reloads I use in the S&W - they're 255 gr swc so I figured I'd get a few jams -

loaded the mag with 8 rounds and got 1 feed failure - slapped forehead - loaded 7 rounds and it ate them all

not an exhaustive test but looks REALLY promising

WTR, I don't know how you feel about the smooth wood grips but I replaced mine with these Pachmyers

They are very comfortable and, I think, nice looking.

I replaced mine with a set of Crimson Trace, and gave it a MUCH better feel.

100 rounds through this weekend

50 rounds of 255 swc reloads - 1 failure to feed on initial slide racking
50 rounds of 'generic' USA Ammo 230 gr ball - ran 100%

very happy - even works with a 10 round 'fun stick' that doesn't work in any of the 1911's the guy who loaned it to me has
