Ruger PC9
« on: February 27, 2012, 03:12:59 PM »
Just took possesion of this today.  First one I ever owned.  Shot a couple hundred rounds through it with zero malfunctions.
Well, I must say that the PC9 is unlike any other gun I have ever owned.  It is a blow back gun, so the slide is massive!

The trigger and mag release are actually part of the stock:

And I still have not figured out exactly what this piece inside the receiver does:

Anyway, as I said, it functioned 100% reliably, with both my lead reloads and JHP reloads.  The mag in this pic is a Mec-Gar 20 rounder, I bought two, and both functioned fine as well.

Think I forsee burning up copious amounts of 9mm through this thing!  Now, if I can just find a rail to fit it so I can mount a red dot.  This gun really would go well with a red dot.

Very cool. Looking forward to a range report.

I have shot it on two occasions, and put 400 rounds through it so far.  Not one problem.  The ammo was my lead reloads and HP reloads.  Bought two Mec Gar 20 round mags, and have 5 factory 15 round mags, so it is easy to go through a lot of ammo fast.  Now, it won't win any benchrest matches for sure.  With the iron sights it was shooting high for me.  I didn't mess with them, as I was just making sure everything worked.  Second time out I have mounted a Tasco Pro Point red dot in 30mm Ruger rings.  Much faster getting on target, and it will keep everything inside a pie plate at 100 yards.  I will be so bold to say that it is accurate enought for what it is designed for.  Overall, I am very pleased with it, and it is a ball to shoot.  I just hope nothing ever does break in it, as Ruger has informed me they have no parts for it.

My Dad mounted a Bushnell trs25 on his. He used a necstar mount for the mini14 and it works just fine.
