A wealthy white hires a killer and gets life while a black man with a public defender convicted of killing a police officer is sentenced to death. Race, social class, gender, and financial resources all play a role in determining who lives or dies.

This guy has qualms about the injustice that the poor and non-whites get a rotten shake and executed more than rich whites who commit the same crime?

And his solution is to sentence them to life in prison?

A society that feels justified in condemning a capitol offense criminal to 50 years or more in a hell-hole is not taking much more of a step by executing them.

And putting one deserving criminal to death might not deter any others, but it sure will deter him.



You will notice that he doesn't cite any facts to back his assertion ?
The reason is that the cases he is thinking of involve a black who shot a Police Officer, and then stood over him and shot him again.
The other case a white guy hired another guy and CONSPIRED to kill some one the hit man went to the cops, no one was actually frightened, let alone injured or killed.

There are some among us that deserve a lynching, not a hanging, that's too quick, but a lynching where their toes just touch the ground. White or black doesn't matter in a crime such as this, the simple fact is they deserve to suffer before dying. End of Story!

Punishment is a tough decision.

Emotionally, I think fastening them to a rotating spit over hot coals and slowly moving more of them over the fire, starting with their feet is what they deserve.  They will be burnt to death, sooner or later, the sooner the easier it will be for them.  Let them die admist the pain of their charred body and smell of their own burnt flesh.   But that is from their nature, not mine.

On the other hand, I cannot consider anyone who is capable of these things as human.  Mad animals is the best I can give them...and we don't punish rabid dogs or enraged animals...we just put then down....as soon as possible.

Another way of looking at it is that lessons need to be taught in a manner the student understands.
Roasting over coals only seems barbaric to us because we, the law abiding rest of society, already "get it".
In at least one case (Petrovsky) A Soviet KGB agent who was caught passing secrets to the US was tied to a board and before an audience of his co workers, fed into a furnace in the cellars of KGB Headquarters at the Lubyanka Prison in Moscow.
The death penalty will continue to be societies last ditch defense against savagery until we are able to send them to another planet where they may do as they will among like minded 2 legged animals .
Until then we have no other option that does not put a severe financial burden on a society that has already been victimized by these creatures.

Speaking of which, the home invaders in CT that killed, raped, burned, those daughters, and Mother,...they were convicted and sent to "death row" in a state that has not had a death row inmate "put down" in decades...

But they won't....A 1911 to the back of the head, or the good ol' chair, would suit me....But evidently not even a lethal injection for these monsters in CT....Regardless of sentence...

Seems $40,000 a year in upkeep, and free healthcare seems more "humane"...

Actually TW, CT executed Michael Ross, a serial killer from Putnum, in 2005.
