A dish doesn't send anything. It only receives. You do have to have the phone line hooked up for that. That's why you have to plug it in to rent a movie via your remote. I always used the phone.. (800-333-3474.. Still memorized from all those years..)
I'm sure cable is different, but I don't really know..
I had to get the "Top 250" to get all I wanted out of it. I just took the crap out of the Favorites Menu.
If I'm not mistaken, the provider pays the networks for the feed. It's renegotiated periodically, afterwards. Remember when Directv or Dish, whichever it was, got rid of Fox News? They lost a bunch of customers in a very short time, then paid what it took to get it back.
Most (basic) packages won't even give you C-SPAN 2.. Talk about an outrage! It's FREE to them!!
You know how they put these things together. It's like a mushroom.. Each level has something for every bent. They'll never break it down into partisan packages, though I wish they would.. If they did, the deadbeat lib side would go out of business for non-payment..
