Post-election guns and ammo panic buying spree has begun: There is a better way

As happened in the immediate aftermath of Obama's election four years ago, guns (particularly so-called "assault weapons"), ammunition and "high capacity" magazines are selling at a frantic pace, in anticipation of potential restrictions--including bans--in the coming months.

------------------------------snip-----------------------------------

If you do not yet have the weapons, ammunition and ancillary gear you need to defend your family, your freedom and your life, it would certainly make sense to acquire them as soon as possible--while it is possible. For the future, though, think about how preferable it would be to defeat the evil of forcible citizen disarmament, rather than scrambling in preparation for enduring it.

"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

You do have to wonder whether gun dealers and EBR makers secretly contributed to BO. God knows he made them a fortune last time. ;D I mean honestly, there will be no AWB as long as the GOP holds the House, but I'm betting we'll see at least a six week price spike.

PS Due to the election, my sportical is now $800, buy it while you can. ;)

FQ, better hang on to the Sportical.
All it takes is an Executive Order and the primary source of cheap AK ammo is gone.

That's where they can nail us. An AWB won't happen, but stuff like the 922R can, with just a rule from BATF. No more mags, no more imports, no more ammo. Now, US companies will take up the slack. Century will buy a license to make AKs, Magpul will make mags, and and Remington etc. will make ammo. But  it will be at or above AR prices. It'd be like buying a Mini-14. Who does that when they can buy an AR, which is twice the gun, for the same price? If you want an AK and have the cash to hand, now is the time to panic buy. Beyond that? I'd chill out.

PS The brass thing might be an issue. It was pro-2A Dems who stopped BO from ordering DOD to destroy surplus brass. Idiots have forced some of those guys from office. If I were to buy anything in a panic, mil spec ammo and combloc stuff would top my list.

You missed something FQ, because you've got no manufacturing experience.
There are only limited supplies of brass cased 7.62X 39 because with the cheap imports there is only limited demand for better.
If production lines are overwhelmed trying to keep up with demand for .223/5.56 and .308/7.62X51 where are they going to find the production capacity to ramp up 7.62 x 39 to comparable levels ?
Same with mags, if they are selling all they can make where do they get the capacity to add AK mags ?
