My Official Take on Pres. BHO's Speech Wednesday

I listened to Pres. BHO's speech in bits and pieces over the last 24 hours, and from the first feeling he was conveying to now I have had the same image in my head.  As I continue to listen and read the image won't go away.  I read his Executive Orders, and the image won't go away.  I remember a Pastor on Sunday who apologized if he was getting political, but brought up the clause in Obamacare (he used the actual legislative name) and its infringement on the First Amendment with the millions in fines being imposed on Hobby Lobby due to the abortion funding portion, and the image won't fade.  

The fact that he is requiring medical professionals to get involved in firearms issues by gathering information on patients scares me!  How many have history with the classification of "mandatory reporter"?  A medical professional is a mandatory reporter, so what happens if they know you have guns, ammo, etc, and they don't agree for one reason or another with your storage, education or attitude?  Mandatory Reporting!

What is the image that won't leave my mind?



He claims in his speech that people are trying to raise their ratings, further their cause, and pad their pockets by screaming "tyrannical".  Obamacare, intrusive questioning and mandatory reporting, and calls for bans are what I would call tyrannical!

"Do you have weapons that you could use to hurt yourself or others?" is a standard question in a psych eval.   
They can only report what is said.  Don't say anything if you don't want to.

If a doc asks me anything about guns, I'll just tell them to move on to the next question.
If they press the issue, it's time for a "GFYS and mind your own business" moment.

The One can 'require' all he wants......... like an old saying goes, "Wish in one hand and sh!t in the other and see which one fills up first."


I have never been asked any questions by any of my doctors about my ownership of guns.
If one asks if I own guns, my reply would be "No".....because I would have given them all to my wife the day before my office visit.....
That way I don't have to lie to the man.  ;)

I figure that's why I've never been asked either. I figure they just assume everyone has at least one.  ;D


In fact, the one time I did have a 'gun conversation' with a doctor was with my orthopedic surgeon. I asked him if he still had the Browning Buckmark I helped his wife pick out for him years ago for a Christmas present. She was in the gun store and was very confused as to what to pick. All she had to go on was that he wanted a .22 target pistol. The guy behind the counter wasn't offering much help, and since I had one, I could advise her on the accuracy of the Browning.

Went in on Wednesday for an appointment with my VA doc.  The intake nurse did a series of questions about my habits and lifestyle--all innocuous: how much do I exercise; do I limit my salt; do I use tobacco?. 

She filled some of the "quiet moments" with statements about her son recently hunting pig.  Then, some chatter about her husband hunting deer.  She had come to Florida from West Virginia and a hunting background.

If there was a "gun" question on the list, she never got around to it.

I didn't have to lie.

But I was morally and ethically prepared to lie, if necessary.  And no, I do not believe it would have been a sin.

Took the wife in for stitches this evening.  Doc didn't ask about firearms, but he may have just been afraid I would shoot him if he did  ;)
