New Knife Kershaw Blur
« on: March 29, 2013, 03:25:16 PM »
Another board I'm on had a group buy on these things. I bought one. It was $55 shipped, which was a slight bargain, so I figured, why not? I've been curious about assisted openers for awhile and Kershaw is a name I trust. So I got it the other day. Lord did I have problems! Nothing wrong with the knife, even though I lubed it twice and read the directions about four times. It was me. I blame Spyderco. Its been my EDC for years. With them your thumb follows the blade up and around. Wrong answer here. With this you press down and up and "click", its ready to go. Its amazing how hard it is to erase muscle memory.

Anyway, my prelininary report on the thing, once I stopped getting in its way, is very positive. Its a sturdy 3 3/8" blade, scary sharp, and a very non-slip,(to the point of being abrasive) handle. It seems like a great EDC utility knife for fairly short dollars. I'm not sure if it will replace the Spyderco, as while it's faster to open one handed, the Spyderco is easier to close one handed. Still, I like it as an intro into assisted openers. I think if I do buy a SD knife rather than just a working knife I will lean in this direction.
Here's a link with pics.
