What do CO gun owners need to do before July 1?
« on: March 24, 2013, 11:37:31 PM »
For those of us in Colorado who have taken it in the shorts thanks to our "Misrepresentatives" and Governor Hicky, what do we need to do before July 1?  I'm refering to strategies to transfer official ownership of our firearms especially our high capacity ones to our children so that they are not caught in this illpanned BS when we die. Some have sugested going to a lawyer and getting it in writting that ownership was transfered before the inactment of the  laws on mag capacity and background checks even for those guns inherited by family.  I would at least like my guns to be taken to an FFL of my choosing and sold for a fair price and that money given to my survivors. I still have a few guns I inherrited from my Dad that I hope my kids will keep but do not want to burden them with a legal nightmare of dealing with it.  Any sugestions?   ???

Last week Tom Martino had a lawyer on his show (khow), lawyer was going over ways to not skirt the law (lawyers would never do that) but how to do it legally. Does that make sense ??? The lawyer is thinking of specializing in the 2A field. Try contacting Martino and get the skinny, they were talking about LLC's etc. Hope that gives you a starting point. I am going to do something regarding weapons I own, not sure what yet. Hope this helps

Unless there is some provision in CO state law that prohibits it, I would think that a Trust would cover the issue. Once the Trust is in place, anyone named as a Trustee has legal access.
I don't know about LLC's and guns....... Our family has an LLC for our small pecan farm, but I don't know if it can act as primary owner of firearms like it does with something like a tractor.

Best bet is contact a lawyer.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

Get out before the barb wire goes up.

Or invest in Kentucky Hemp with minimal stretch.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

Weed is the #1 cash crop in America.
Seeds can be pressed for oils, husks then used for animal feed, (lovebird mix bird seed contains pot seeds )
Fibers from stems and roots can be used for rope, cloth, and paper.
Which leaves only the buds and leaves which are now in the same price range as tobacco.

They don't make crap compared to what state and federal taxes amount to.
Same with oil companies, people talk about their "obscene profits" forgetting that Nike shoes make twice as much profit.
