Came across this product and thought some might be interested.
I cannot recommend it as I have never used one or even seen one, but I like the concept although I haven't thought about any downsides besides cost yet.
The product is a LED light bulb that fits in a standard light socket. What makes this one different is that it has a built in Lithium-Ion battery that will keep the bulb lit for 12 hours on the internal battery.
So, if the light is on when the power goes bye bye, it stays on..for 12 hours if needed.
If the light is off, it comes with a remote to turn it on to run on battery power.
It can also be removed from the socket and carries around as a flashlight.
It will recharge when the power comes back on. The Lithium-Ion battery is not adversely affected by a partial discharge/recharge cycle like some batteries are. It does not develop a "memory".
Downside is the price:
Supply Options: The retail price of the new Backup Bulb is $99.95. However, as a part of our "Light up America" campaign you can get one for half-price, just $49.95. You can get two Backup Bulbs for $86.90 which saves you $113.00. Even better, you can get 3 Backup Bulbs for just $114.00 saving you $185.85.If anyone is interested, here is the link
