Democratic aide carting gun in federal building is let off with warning

An aide to Democratic Rep. John Conyers — one of the loudest voices on Capitol Hill for additional federal gun control laws — caught a lucky break just recently.

Betty Petrenz, who works as office manager for Mr. Conyers, brought a gun inside her purse into a federal building in Detroit, The Daily Caller reported.

But officers let her off with a warning — no ticket, no fine, no jail time. Typically, carting a weapon into a federal building is against the law.

Sometimes, even nibbling a Pop-Tart into the shape of a gun can bring stiff penalties. Just ask one conservative blogger, who reminded of the unfortunate fate of an 8-year-old boy who received a school suspension for his Pop-Tart artwork.

“Children are literally suspended from school for bringing gun-shaped pop tarts to school, yet this Democratic clerk gets off scott-free,” the blogger wrote at the conservative news site Rare.

Mr. Conyers has a low political tolerance for Second Amendment violations. The National Rifle Association rates him an “F” for gun rights, labeling him one of the toughest advocates for Second Amendment crackdowns in Congress, The Daily Caller reported.

"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

I'm sure all of us would have been given the same courtesy.  ::)
The hypocrisy.....it burns.
You can say lots of bad things about pedophiles; but at least they drive slowly past schools.

Wasn't it HUGE news this weekend when some 2nd Amendment advocate posted a video of himself with a shotgun in DC?

Wonder what Conyers has to say about it.

1  having a staff member owning firearms
2 why she was let off  as if it was anyone else they
3 why is she still working if he has such an anti firearm stance  and has people working for him with legal firearms  would not want that to get out there would he.   might make him look like a hypocrite if word got out ;)
Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them

The Detroit Free Press was all over it and pointed out three others who did the same thing but got a much different treatment.

Quote
Petrenz’s fate stands in contrast to what happened to three others caught with guns inside federal court:

One woman — a clerk who worked at the courthouse for more than two decades — was fired last year after security officers discovered a gun in her purse.

A male law clerk for U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn agreed to resign after a gun was found in his briefcase last year.

Another woman, a real estate agent who was headed to bankruptcy court and had a gun in her purse (she had just shown a property), was criminally charged. Her gun permit had expired. She eventually got diversion.

According to court officials, all four individuals who were cited for having guns had permits to carry them, but accidentally brought them into the federal courthouse.
