“As democracy is perfected, the office of the President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people.  On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be occupied by a downright fool and a complete narcissistic moron.”  H.L. Mencken, The Baltimore Evening Sun,  July 26, 1920.

Sergei appears to have a much clearer view of us than we have of ourselves.

Two hundred years is the average lifespan of any government before it devolves into chaos, anarchy, and eventual military rule and dictatorship.

We are pompous if we think it can't/won't happen to us.

Right now, just under half of all Americans receive some form of government dole.  When it tips to just over half, the great American experiment in democracy is, for all intents and purposes, over.

We may still have a chance to save it, but Sergei is correct:  more of us and our friends and relatives need to get involved in saving freedom if it is to be saved.

I fear it is already too late.

I weep for my country.

“I’ve lived the literal meaning of the ‘land of the free’ and ‘home of the brave.’ It’s not corny for me. I feel it in my heart. I feel it in my chest. Even at a ball game, when someone talks during the anthem or doesn’t take off his hat, it pisses me off. I’m not one to be quiet about it, either.”  Chris Kyle
