Even the 'miles" system today we train with covers the muzzel . The "rules" still apply even while training. and youre right Tom the blank system we had covered the muzzel with a screw on adapter, we used to take them off and shoot the red team. made a nasty burn and would put the paper in your skin LOL. but I digress 

The wad, at close range, will go through a C ration can.
