Mr. Owl: How Many Years Does it Take......

....to wear the finish off the rear corner of a Glock 27 slide?

One....two-hooo......ten. Ten*.

*Ten years of daily carry (well, I sometimes carry my Commander 1911 during the coldest two months of the year).  So factor it at ten months per year of constant (and I do mean constant, as in "even in the home until bed time" - constant).

And, it is only a spot slightly smaller than a pencil eraser on the left corner of the slide that contacts my skin (if worn under a t-shirt) or a t-shirt (if worn under a button-up shirt).

The front sides of the slide are starting to show wear from the holster (SERPA) that I have used for over four years.



**I will add: I carried my Colt 1991 Commander for twelve years constantly prior to downsizing to the G27, and the Parkerized finish held up as well.

I think you are correct.
The color underneath looks light gray and not like bare metal.

When I get around to it, Ill post a picture.
