A couple of months ago, I had tried to find the reference to a play to bring down capitalism by (and I am remembering the quote the best I can) "overwhelming it with obligations it cannot afford to keep but is unable to refuse"

I haven't found the quote, but I believe I have found the source of the idea, if not the quote.

The Cloward–Piven strategy is a political strategy outlined in 1966 by American sociologists and political activists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven that called for overloading the U.S. public welfare system in order to precipitate a crisis that would lead to a replacement of the welfare system with a national system of "a guaranteed annual income and thus an end to poverty"

P.S.  I read that and I cannot believe that the authors are so short sighted that they cannot see the consequences if the majority of people decide their "Guaranteed Annual Income" is a great benefit and quit working.  Not one but the "useful idiots" can be that ignorant and the total collapse of the system is their actual goal.

Cloward / Piven was just another implementation of the theory developed by the "Frankfurt school" after WWI,
It is considered a "conspiracy theory, ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankfurt_School_conspiracy_theory  ) but compare the "theory to the results we see around us.

Solus, it wasn't short-sighted of Cloward and Piven, it is exactly what they wanted. Think 1984, and Cloward and Piven both assumed they would have been part of the Inner Party, so what did it matter if this (once) great Constitutional Republic was turned into a 3rd world sh!thole, so long as they and their progeny were the masters?

The part that I like is that they apparently missed the most important lesson of the Russian Revolution and Hitler's rise.
Their opponents were the 2nd ones to be suppressed.
The first ones to be taken out and shot were the "useful idiots who made it possible, the Menshevics (sp ?) and the Brownshirts.

That is what I tried to say in the P.S., Path.  Only the useful idiots would believe that eliminating poverty could possibly be the final goal.  The actual goal being the total collapse of the system.

Take care =)
