Worked in US Customs for a couple of years. The dirtiest LE group there is. Lots of temptation and a 200 year culture of ethical blindness. I could tell you a dozen stories of US vs Them. Theft, collusion, smuggling, indictments all the way up the chain of command.

Now you have the Border Patrol in a situation where their own Supervisors are putting guys like Ramos and Campion in prison for a decade.

This happening in larger Federal agencies. How can a small 20 - 100 man force  stop this behavior?

By hiring people who have ethics ! It's one of the problems spawned by the socialization of America. When these CRIMINALS snival about being a "victim" of the temptation, someone needs to stand up and say BS, you're a damned thief.

You can say lots of bad things about pedophiles; but at least they drive slowly past schools.

Can't argue with that.  All valid incidents and I know of other "unknown skirmishes" that will never hit the news.  Bet ya'll do too.

Twyacht, good way to point out who is in the middle.  I have a lot of trust in my friends who are officers, but they nor I trust all of their compadres.  In fact a friend was a Tangipahoa Sherriff's Deputy 20+ years ago told me to never let an officer enter my house after a burglary unattended or I had a 50-50 chance of losing more personal items.  He knew of officers who had "picked up things" and justified in that insurance was going to pay it anyway.  When I grilled him about turning them in his response was, "You've got to be kidding, next domestic disturbance call I'm on and they'll find me dead in the yard with a throwdown next to me and never find the shooter."  That has stuck with me over the years and been echoed by others.....

That particular fear can be extrapolated (my word for the day ;D) to interagency us vs them mentalities, as well.  When I was a VERY young LEO in a one-officer department in a VERY small town I was informed by one of the Deputies from the SO that I should refrain from socializing with the State Troopers in our area, because if I maintained a relationship with them the next time I called for backup the officers from the SO "might not be available" to assist me.  Although I informed him that inasmuch as I was out there all alone, if I called for help I didn't care what color shirt the responding officers were wearing when they showed up, the gravity of what he was telling me scared the shi... err, CRAP out of me!!
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!
