I suspect you are all savvy enough not to fall for this Chris Christi presidential thing, but I thought I'd shoot a little ground zero info on the latest "Governor Executive Orders".
Got an email from NJ2AS explaining Christi's order and the proposed changes to language. Basically (IMHO) it reads that the Gov wants FID and CCW applications expedited for people who fit two categories: Those who have a restraining order against someone and have been threatened, or those who have met the threshold for "Justifiable Need", AND it says to process within 14 days "IF POSSIBLE". AND the "Justifiable Need" is the same bullshit we have now.
So for starters...a polite suggestion for those in dire need and no change for anyone else.
"I'm running for president and I want to look like I'm doing the right thing". But NOTHING will change. No change to the ridiculous Justifiable Need requirements. PoPo has 30 days to process standard applications and some do....others take as long as 9-11 months with no repercussions. And there is still wiggle room on the 14 day limit for those in dire need..."if possible". I can hear it now, "Well the fingerprint info didn't come back from the FBI, blah blah blah. Again, no repercussions.
There is NO change to the status quo except for a suggestion from the Gov that the cops pay a little attention when someone could get killed and make them all look bad.
I'm sure his Commission (still to be appointed) will some up with something stupid and we'll still be waiting for the SCOTUS to just drop a big rock on our state legislature. Which, I doubt will ever happen either.
In other news the NJ2AS has been picketing his home and generally pissing off the state senate president Steve Sweeney, who is a self-described, "Union thug". At least he's taking some heat, and they're trying to raise enough signatures in his district for a recall.
The country needs a fascist craphole like NJ to make the rest of the states feel good about themselves.
But don't be fooled about Christi. He is, at best, a RINO.
