A Huge +1, Majer. Historians frequently state that it takes years and years to look back and "judge" if political statements or decisions were good or bad.
Example: Ronald Reagan; So many people thought that "actor from Ca." was going to bring about WWIII as POTUS, that he was trashed almost constantly by the MSM and Democrats.
Now, history has shown he made the right call, and facilitated an end to the Cold War. To your point, Teddy Roosevelt, now 100 years later, is just the person politicians should reflect on in these days. He was considered a "War Monger", an isolationist, and a bully. But the "Big Stick" concept still has merit, and as Sec. of the Navy, often remarked, "I'm not here to be liked, I'm here to be respected."
I love great quotes. Thank you.
"Don't hit at all if it can be avoided, but never hit softly."
