OK, so I decided I was going to wade in here - without having read the entire thread. If you posted something pithy and earth-shaking on pages 2 or 3 of this thread, please let me know and I will go read it!  ;)

One other thing - Most of you know my "religious persuasion", so if it's going to bother you when I mention God later in the post, you may want to stop reading and head to the next post. Until I do mention Him, though, you may find what I have to say interesting, or at least mildly entertaining.  ::)

First, a note. The American Republic as envisioned by our Founders is dead, and as with the Roman republic, it ain't ever coming back.

I have discussed this election with my wife and older son, and it is shaping up to be a doozy. The establishment republikans (Rove et al.) are absolutely panicked at the prospect of Trump winning the convention and will do almost anything to stop him, even (recently) talking openly about supporting Cruz, which I am sure is one of the signs of the apocalypse! Even conservatives (real or otherwise) are talking about a 3rd party candidate if Trump takes the convention.

Leftoids are either threatening (promising?) to leave the country or openly hoping someone assassinates Trump. Sanders is failing at the polls (the voting types, not the opinion types) although still generating money. His purpose will be to push hitlery farther left - assuming that is possible. Hitlery is riding high, but noises keep coming from the FBI in the background.

Here's my theory. Hitlery will coast toward the convention with a lock on it, only to be whammied by bho and his minions, probably through indictments and maybe even a public arrest. It's pretty clear there is no love lost between bho and the klintoons. This will throw the convention wide open, until ol' loveable uncle Joe (Biden) is proposed as a fill-in for the front runner. You have noticed he has been absolutely silent, right? It may be someone else, but my money is on Joe.

Joe is a (creepy) buffoon and a cypher, but so was bho when he was elected - it's his handlers who matter and my guess is a good number of them, plus the established leftoid-stuffed bureaucracy who run the .gov and who gave bho his talking points will work for Joe.

So much dirt will have been slung on all candidates, and the Republican candidate will be standing there absolutely filthy from the pre-convention battles, and everyone will have a scant 3+ months to try to tarnish the white knight Joe. Plus, the media will go out of their way to protect him. Even Chris Matthews may start having that whole leg tingle thing again! (ew?)

The leftoids will be so giddy at the prospect of having a squeaky clean candidate, someone who is not Bernie, that Joe will be swept into the candidacy on the first vote - with concessions to Sanders of course to keep him committed, or at least quiet. This gives bho his (figurative) third term without having to contend with those pesky laws that say no-third term, gets rid of hitlery and likely Bill who will be included for leverage with hitlery (all of whom bho will pardon on his last day in office - maybe), trumps Sanders, and keeps the White House for the Dems.

OK, so where does God play into this? The Bible clearly predicts a number of things that have happened, are happening, or will happen. Sadly, through my studies, there is no clear reference or allusion (except maybe as one of the 10 nations following the Romans from Daniel) to the USofA, and I have reached the conclusion that that omission is because we as a country, as a force, do not matter in His plans.

Further, Paul's writings in Romans 1:18-32 clearly indicate that when a people rejects God the way we have, He can and will turn his back on us. Pay particular attention to the paragraph starting with verse 18, and the following paragraphs that begin "God gave them over to...".

On a purely secular note, we as a country have been dancing along the precipice for some years as the .gov and the powers behind the throne drive us ever closer to the edge, and I for one am tired of it. At this point, I might just see God's hand in this election, since He has clearly given us over to whatever, and it is His will we fail as a nation. To that end, I may just vote for the one who will steer straightest to void and stomp on the accelerator.

I won't survive the coming chaos, but I know my future, and I will be evangelizing to the very end.

You are wrong about Biden being a cipher.
They call him "Greasy Joe" for a reason.
During his Senate career he was consistently one of the most corrupt in the Senate.
One of his sons became a lawyer solely to service lobbyists dealing with Daddy.
 Otherwise I agree with your evaluation of the Dems tactics .
Remember though, since 1857 the only way we've had 2 Dems in a row is if the first one died in office.
