I have a 6" GrovTec Rail Wrap on my 20" AR, but haven't shot it yet. They come in 4 colors if MultiCam Black is available. If not, there's Black, Coyote, and plain old MultiCam. I took the rubber logo thatwas sewn on mine off. I didn't like the way the small bump felt under my fingertip.

I think I saw something insulated that should be better, but I don't know where. If you search for insulated rifle wrap or something like that maybe it will come up.

I'm not sure if I already posted this somewhere or not. I took my 12.7" AR-15 with the Dead Foot Arms folder to my friend's house over the weekend to show it off. When I took it apart and reassembled it, the bolt would only come back halfway when I pulled back on the charging handle. The plunger spring was binding up and the plunger wasn't entering the back of the bolt carrier. It seemed to work better with the plunger spring facing one way than the other. After I got home I squeezed the last coil of the spring in closer where it was sticking out just a hair. It still didn't work most of the time. So I squeezed one end down to fit more snugly on the plunger, so they both go in and out of the gun at the same time. Then I put some friction tape on a drill bit chucked in my cordless drill and stuck the plunger on it. I spun it around on sandpaper and steel wool to polish it up, but it still didn't work right. I re-blued it with a Birchwood Casey touch-up pen. I think that's all the blueing I have at the moment.

I talked to the guys at Dead Foot Arms and they said a Buffer Spring Cap would keep the spring in alignment so it didn't bind up. They sent me one free of charge and it was in Detroit 24 hours ago. It's scheduled to be here Monday, but really should be here in the afternoon. It all depends on when it gets to Flint. If it's here by 5 or 6 am I should get it. A spring cap was already part of the 9mm kits, but not the rifle kits. Mine is a Gen 2 and didn't come with it, but later Gen 2s did. They now make an even better Gen 3 folder and it also comes with a spring cap. It's a chunk of tool steel, and made in Wisconsin like the rest of their products. The 9mm version is a lot thicker than the rifle one, and the 9mm kit has a rubber bumper that sits inside the end cap too. I still haven't fired this gun but have handled it a lot, disassembling and reassembling it, and never had any kind of problem until the weekend. I almost ordered one of these spring caps a year ago when I ordered my T-REX stock, but they said I didn't need it since I wasn't having any problems. I said I didn't mind buying one but it sucked having to pay shipping again, and they just gave it to me. I love my fellow army vets. These guys know how to take care of people.

RIGHT NOW, BUY A COMPLETE FOLDER OR BCM KIT, GET A KOMODO STOCK FOR FREE! UNTIL 5/11 OR WHILE SUPPLIES LAST. It's a Komodo Stock - BLEM, but even the BLEM sells for $150.

    WEIGHT: 11.2 oz.
LENGTH OF PULL WITH DEAD FOOT FOLDER: 12.75".
LENGTH OF PULL DIRECT TO LOWER RECEIVER: 10.25".
    TYPE III HARD ANODIZED.
MANUFACTURED AND ASSEMBLED AT DEAD FOOT ARMS HEADQUARTERS, 100% MADE IN THE USA.

I went with the T-REX stock instead of the KOMODO because of its adjustable length of pull. 12.75" might be long enough, but the DEAD FOOT ARMS T-REX 5 POSITION COLLAPSIBLE STOCK provides a lightweight, minimalist option that also allows you to maintain your preferred length of pull currently enjoyed with your traditional AR platform stock. It's a short 5-position stock that when added to the 2.5" buffer is about the same length as 6-position M4 stock.

It looks like the cold bluing lasted about 5 minutes. On rifle calibers you start out with a blue plunger spring and blue recoil spring. If it isn't functioning properly you switch to a blue (medium) plunger spring and red (lightest) recoil spring. And if all else fails, try a red plunger spring and red recoil spring. I heard that sometimes with .300 BLK subsonic that's what's necessary because it doesn't have as much oomph. With 9mm you start with black and black (heavy) springs, which didn't even come with my rifle kit. Whether it's a rifle or pistol caliber, the plunger spring is always stronger than or equal to the recoil spring. A light plunger spring and medium buffer spring is a no-go. Here's a picture of the bolt carrier mod again. I believe they shorten it by 1.4" but the buffer tube is 1.5" shorter, 2.5" vs. 4". Maybe it has .1" less bolt travel than normal?
