Truth be told, it takes a different midset to actually take a bullet for another person.  I'd take one for Mrs. T, and most likely for you, M'ette, but other than that, I'd have to consider it on a case-by-case basis.

I believe that the people in these postitions have the ability to seperate the person from the position.  The are not protecting any given person, they are protecting the President, Vice President, etc.  They may say or feel that they will take a bullet for a given person, but what they actually do without second guess at anytime is sacrifice all for the Nation they love and serve.

You won't find ANY campaign that would come up with SOMEONE that wouldn't pass the background check.  Depending on the position your clearance doesn't need to be that high.  Hell there are Senators and Congressmen that don't have clearances, they just don't sit on commitees that would give them access to the info.  In the same line, just becuase you're the President doesn't mean you have access to EVERYTHING.  They just have to sanitize it so you can make a decision.
