Redistribution of wealth...a lesson

Got this in an e-mail today...interesting explanation:

Here is a creative approach to redistribution of wealth as offered by a reader of the local newspaper, the Eagle Tribune.

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign the read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed--just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient needed money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

OR IS IT.........REDISTRIBUTION OF SOMEONE ELSE'S WEALTH IS A GREAT IDEA..............or just a fools political game !!

Good Story!

I'm surprised we haven't seen more of them this election season.  Remember during the formation of the tax cuts and rebates all the analogies of guys with the money taking their money and leaving the game?

Excellent story PegLeg! - one we should all emulate whenever we can. Talk about a grassroots movement. You should post this over on USCCA board - they would love it too.

That's a pretty good story. And I'll add this story someone once told me about redistributing the wealth:

Your child is the best student in their class. They make all As and study very hard. They are truly an exceptional student. Most of the other students are average, with a smaller percentage below average in grades.

The teacher gets a wonderful idea:
To make things "fair" for everyone, the teacher decides to redistribute the grades in the class to ensure that everyone at least has a C average. How is this accomplished? You guessed right: your child and most of the average kids have their grades given to those in the bottom 50% to ensure they all have an equitable and fair grade point average.

Your child exclaims, "That's not fair! I work hard to get my grades and why should I have to give my grades to kids who don't know how to read?" The teacher smugly tells them, "From each according to his ability to each according to his need."

That last quote comes from Karl Marx and is very much a part of the philosophy of Progressives/Liberals today. The story above hits hard the ideas of those silly people who always seem to be so concerned about the poor and the downtrodden so that they believe YOUR money should be used to address their concern.

I don't know fellas...I'm starting to think that if this crap goes on much longer I'm going to be in a position where I'll qualify for whatever he's giving away. They can fix all the banks and stock market stuff they want, but I'm seeing more and more people sent home or getting wages cut, but their bills don't go down and that spells a HUGE problem six months from now.

Here's another one I got today on explaining the bailout plan:

Understanding the Government Bailout Plan

Once upon a time in a place over-run with monkeys, a man appeared and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10 each.

The villagers, seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest, and started catching them.

The man bought thousands at $10 and as supply started to diminish, they became harder to catch, so the villagers stopped their effort.

The man then announced that he would now pay $20 for each one.

This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again.

But soon the supply diminished even further and they were ever harder to catch, so people started going back to their farms and forgot about monkey catching.

The man increased his price to $25 each and the supply of monkeys became so sparse that it was an effort to even see a monkey, much less catch one.

The man now announced that he would buy monkeys for $50!

However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on his behalf.

While the man was away the assistant told the villagers, 'Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has bought. I will sell them to you at $35 each and when the man returns from the city, you can sell them to him for $50 each.'

The villagers rounded up all their savings and bought all the monkeys.

They never saw the man nor his assistant again and once again there were monkeys everywhere.

Now you have a general understanding of how the government bailout works.
