Personally I think the urban areas of America will sheepishly go miserably socialist while the Rural and wilderness areas will contain bands of us outlaws who will be hunted and killed by the Govt. just like the Ukrainian partisans after WW II.

A viable scenario.  Far more likely than throwing the bums out.  History repeated perhaps?

I certainly hope you are right.  I think fewer people are indidualistic...as evidenced by the absolute abomination we have for a President and Speaker of the House....they were elected.  As far as the immigrants, I am absolutely certain they will not say anything.  They escaped a bad situation and were well educated in saying nothing and avoiding eye contact--mostly they came over sheep to the core.  I think the neighborhoods in Texas and other southern border states are an example of a lack of will to say anything that would make you stand out.  The only immigrants talking...are the one's who are tied to the violent gangs or who are under an umbrella of a leader calling for some movement...such as letting all foreigners in and making them instant citizens.

In Wyoming...dang straight.  I grew up in Louisiana...not so individualistic in places like New Orleans.  Consider who elects the idiot Mayors....socialistic, hands out sheep, that's who.  The only way to get them out of the box is to cut off their goodies and I'll tell you after 50 plus years here on earth the politicians don't forget that part.  The first places in communities (even here in Tulsa) that get their services back, like electricity and water after a problem, are the areas populated by welfare recipients.  We were sold out a long time ago and have been diluted with sheep who have no business being here and by the violent gangs we arent' being protected from.

At first it was slick talking, lying good old boys laughing at the other one's in the same club by getting elected when the other's didn't....and the water temperature rose.  Then they were overtaken by the idealistic believers of "Great Society" socialism....and the water temperature rose.  Now we have flaming radicals and the temperature is rising once again.....to a boil.

I hate this, but it looks like game over for America to me.  The police and National Guard picked up guns in New Orleans and not a shot was fired....pretty telling.  If elements of the military don't start a revolt I don't see any real changes.  Perhaps a Kosovo type thing if the food and energy comes into short supply.  We have diversity and selfishness now.

Not like the part of the country from where you hail, so I understand your optimism.  If it weren't so cold I'd move towards you good people, but I'm planning on hunkering down and finishing my generation out where I can quietly live in a rural area with a 2 season garden and be ready to help feed my children's future families.  Looking at generations passing, mine was the first "lost" generation and it got worse after that not to mention the hard-working rabble that don't have a the tie to our heritage. I've always been on the right and have gained ground lost in the 70's craziness and have educated my children and instituted American values in them....there will be another side of this thing, just probably not in my lifetime.

Ya'll have been way up there out-of-the action.  I saw the same kind of thing here in Tulsa 12 years ago.  I have observed that we are far further down the road than I think you believe.  I envy you.

I am right with you there, I look around at my generation and I am embaressed. All these idiots walking around looking like they fell face first into a tackle box, with rainbow colored hair and dressed all in black. And the first thing they always say is that they are not trying to be different!!!!! It scares the hell out of me to think that my generation may someday run the country. (provided it's still here) The reason I am in such fear is that this IS the entitlement generation. Most of these people grew up having everything handed to them.
Now the baby boomers are partially to blame for this. They vowed that they wouldn't treat their kids the way they were treated. (You know hard work, earn what you have, personal responsablility ) And many of them WENT THROUGH WITH IT! They gave their kids everything they wanted, to make them happy, and so that they wouldn't have to be a parent.
Now not to make this a blanket statement, I know my parents put me through the school of hard knocks, and looking back on it now, I think showed incredible restraint. ;D But while I tout individualism, in terms of self reliance and personal responsability, the "me first" mentality in this country is most likely what will destroy us. :'(

God grant that I may not be found wanting,
that I will not fail this sacred trust.

Quite right.  I hope that I made/make the grade with my children who are now poised to begin on their own over the next few years.

The me first mentatility may be an agent that can help to turn us to a positive light if sacrifice is thrust upon us in the form of a collapse of services we have taken for granted.  Food, energy...all extremely scarce and at a subsistence level long enough to cause a permanent change in beliefs and character.  My obervation, for what it is worth, it takes 6 months of hard work to change an attitude or belief for someone who got things easy...observed working offshore platforms.  Desperation put a lot of people out there...if they made the first 4 to 6 weeks (2 or 3 trips) then they could be led to a turning poing....so long as Daddy did not bail them out....

I wouldn't worry too much. Sounds like you instilled some value in your kids, and taught them to have value in themselves. I just hope that my generation turns out to be smarter than they act, and maybe has the guts to exercise some common sense. :-\

Why is it that the more time I spend on here, the more I like the people on here and the more frightened I am for my beloved country. If my total logged time gets to about a month, I'm sure that I will be a full blown survivalist.  :o  One without a clue I'm sure.   ::)

That's why we have the preparedness podcast, survivalblog.com, survival podcast and others so we can start to get a clue.
