God Bless their souls and WE will never forget....!

My Daddy was on an Aircraft Carrier that day, thank goodness.  USS Wasp, CV-7...On Dec. 7th, she was safely anchored in Grassy Bay, off Bermuda....

I believe she took three torpedoes and sank in mid Sept. '42 after making the trip to the S. Pacific about two weeks after the old man transfered to a destroyer.  They were escorting the troop ships of Marines to Guadalcanal when hit.

I didn't comment earlier because I felt that the these 2 threads did not need any more comment, they summed things up pretty well on their own and leave no room for debate.
As to the silence in the media what do you expect from the enemies propaganda machine.
It's not like they would Glorify America unless they are trying to f-ck us.

My local paper managed to interview some vets the last few days, and today's made top of the fold, front page. Good for them. Still, you would think that given that we are still ass deep in another war started by a Pearl Harbor like attack, that the media would be giving it more play.

When I was a kid Pearl Harbor Day was marked on the calender. Now it's not. I guess we're all supposed to forget and pretend it never happened.
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. That's a sad thing I've noticed over the years also. More and more significantly important dates are being omitted from standard calendars.
