Phoenix Arms .22LR pistol with 2 barrels (one short and another at 5+ inches) with a slew of magazines. Didn't pay much and will sell it as soon as I find the short barrel.

This POS is actually a 2-fer. I bought one, could not get the barrel release to work. Took it back to the store and the gunsmith couldn't get it to work either. So off to the factory, which replaced the whole thing - new s/n so new ATF form plus transfer fee on a gun I already did all that to.

Found out after I bought it that Phoenix are considered "Saturday night specials" - cheap POS'. Live and learn - this is how I learned to research a damn gun before shelling out any money.

Beretta 90-Two. It felt great, shot great, but there was not enough holster options, didn't like the plastic grip. Traded it in on a Sig P250.

Should have just bought the 92. I am going to buy a stainless steel 92 when I get my IRS refund.

That was the best buy you EVER made Jay.....isn't that the one that morphed into an M&P with MB's kooties all over it?

Better than an autograph!

 ;)
When you put it that way you are 100% right. It ended up costing me a good bit more but again, you are right. There are NO regrets with the outcome. In fact, I take back the whole SR9 reference because somehow it morphed into a great pistol and a great new friend. Best bad purchase I ever made!
Man I wish I could screw up like that a few more times.

Aren't the Encore and the Pro Hunter the same gun?  I've heard either you love them or hate them, a lot of the TV pro's use the T/C and the public has followed.

Bolt guns are hard to beat but the lever is a close second. ;D

Yes the "Pro Hunter is nothing but an Encore with a camo stock.
I don't know what TFR is referring to when he says fixing the "problems" is to convoluted. It's about the simplest design I've ever seen, and with the Life time warranty if there is some thing wrong you just send it back. As for to light for heavier loads J.D. Jurris was chambering the Contender for Elephant loads, that's the whole point of that reinforcing around the breech of the Encore and G2 Contender.
Sounds more like he didn't like the recoil of the heavier loads and made a poor choice for his purposes.
I have to add to my earlier post. I remember one gun that I felt was a waste of money, a Century G3, sights were so out of whack that I could not adjust them onto the paper at 100 yards. I traded that one.

I dont like my Benelli Nova.... Its a great shooter, but it doesnt fit me well.... the length of pull is too long and the slide is a little too far forward for my tastes. If I can unload it at a respectable price it is gone, baby gone.

Can't you just get a shorter stock, or trim the one you have ? Seems like that should put the slide into a better position as well since you would be shortening the OAL.

What are you asking for it Eric?  12 or 20 gauge?

Yep, that's exactly right shooter and Tom. I thought the Thompson was a cool idea, mostly since all the TV hunters were having such a good time with them and I bought into the versatility of the system. I bought the basic Encore with a .30-06 barrel, then added a 12 ga Turkey barrel. The -06 barrel is 24" and I bought the synthetic stock. Poor choice. Too light of a combination and the recoil was pretty harsh. After a few shots one of the forearm posts broke. There was a lot of side to side movement in the lock which I fixed with an after market part, and when I started researching improvements to accurize it I gave it up...It just didn't work for me like I envisioned it would. I decided to keep it as my Turkey shotgun since it fills that role very well...but I can't sell the -06 and .270 barrels to anyone. No one's buying them. I'd love to buy a Ruger M77 in .270 or .30-06, which is what I sold to buy this gun. Right now the rifle has a .270 barrel and wood forearm. That seems to work well and I've shot a few deer and pigs with it. I also thought I'd like the single shot aspect of it. But I don't. Out here hunting deer and pigs in the Calfiornia coastal range there is definately a need to have a second quick shot. There has been more than once when I wished I have wished I had the second shot at the turn of the bolt instead of having to break open the action, pick out the spent case, and go through the loading, closing, cocking the hammer routine.
If anyone wants to buy the rifle barrels let me know. I'll make you a deal...
