Cabela's had it for a competitive $1100 a couple weeks back, with a few 30 rounders.  Not bad for a premium gas piston, I think theirs had flip up battle sights too.

I believe the barrels are made at T/C M&P barrels after all were why they bought the company and replaced all the machinery in the barrel room.

Now with S&W and Sig / Sauer marketing piston AR-15's, I think the only 2 companies not doing so are Revlon and Max Factor.  Bill T.

What's amazing is that S&W launched theirs quietly below the radar. Ruger decided to make a national holiday for their release. I guess you don't have to have a media circus to launch a new piston product. And the M&P15X I saw in store was really reasonable in price at about $1300.

I had the good fortune of talking with a secret service guy over Christmas, he indicated they were moving toward piston AR's. The original M&P had good reviews from Gunsite... I'm just waiting for the 6.5 Creedmoor to catch on.

Would love to own one that fires 7.62. Really wanting to find something heavier though at the moment I am just dreaming cause the funds aren't there.  :)
