Seecamp was the one who offered them years ago. One of my dad's friends had one.

Para LDA has the best DA trigger I have ever felt.

As stated, the one thing I don't like about them is that the slide has to be racked to reset the trigger. But after shooting SA all this time It's really no big deal.

Yeah, Para's doing O.K. with them, they might have sold 1 or 2.

Why didn't they catch on? Just aesthetics or something more? I would think for you rust bucket guys it would be ideal for carry, the same platform you're used to with the speed/ simplicity of Da or Da/Sa? Why aren't they popular?

They have caught on. You're obviously hanging with the wrong crowd.  ;)

I have owned 4 now only 3 LDA's, my C7 after my rework is honestly 2lbs DA, the others are still good, but the little guy is a heartbreaker. Right, no second strike capability. But boy does it shoot.

Yes, there was a DA conversion to the 1911 a while back.  I'm thinking it was done by Seecamp but my memory isn't what it once was.  I never had a chance to shoot one but from what I remember of the reviews it wasn't that good/smooth action.  Maybe MB can chime in or maybe another OTLM (Old Timer Like Me).

Correct, Seecamp designed a DA trigger for the 1911, it was then marketed as the ODI Viking.  A friend back in high school became a gunsmith and wanted my AMT longslide to go on his ODI frame (I got a Michagan Armament Slide out of it that I still use).  This was in the mid 80s time frame.  Around 87-88 Colt came out with the Double Eagle DA gun.
