Basically, they were looking for cheap, face-to-face purchases. I doubt they could have passed a NICS check in the first place.
Me want no troubles with the law....I like my guns.
You know it weird you say that. It just occured to me that that's one of my greatest incentives to obey the law. Its not like I'm planning on a crime spree or anything. Its just that if I've gone out and had a few, I'll sober my self up by saying "If you ever want to drive again, you'll call a cab now, because if you have to ask, no you're not ok to drive". Likewise, other, more felonious temptations (most of which would fall under ATF or DEA purview) are squelched with "I like guns, hunting and being able to vote". Its interesting that the fine/jail time isn't the big detterent here. Its the threat of the permanent loss of liberties we use everyday that does. I'm wondering if its just me, and if not, can we learn something about how to make laws?

Wait, wait, wait,...I'm relying on a shady gun seller to tell me "Oh, yeah man it ain't hot"... Please.....

The throw away pistol, is and will be available. Even in Chicago, San Francisco, Detroit, Georgetown, Boston, LA, etc,....the lower down the line you go, you can get what you want.

The premise of trusting any of these folks, to tell me "it ain't stolen",....and give me a fair price. You can get a pistol for $75.00, that might be worth $500. Cause its stolen and being sold by a meth/crack/player/scumbag....

Or you can spend $200 for a Davis .380, that won't work...

Dangerous and last time I checked, possession of a stolen firearm, is a felony? Remember the movie Godfather? When he broke the pistol up into pieces and dumped it into several stovepipes???

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

Here in Tejas, they usually go for 50% under value, as the perp wants  to drop product fast, either to buddies and or going to a local mall, an dealing out of his trunk, special guns like AR's or AK's might go for more 75%, but the perp wants to get out quick.  In special circumstances, they might be providing to high level illegal immi's, gang members, and might get a premium. But that is going to be 110%, not as much as you might think, the idea is steal it and sell it. Probably for drugs, but in certain situations,, for a cause, be it gangland, or gang related. and they are buying with a cause, scary if it is, on purpose.

Or they're just cheap bastards. Yeah,  I just shot a cop with this gun, but I'll sell it for $100 rather than burying it 18 feet deep, cause surely the criminal I sold it to won't roll over on me. ::)
