Poll now up to 80+% feeling safer. Comments from folks responding are generally well reasoned. Of course, there are the loonies who believe we will see an upturn in toddler deaths and other things that just don't happen. And one commenter wanted to ban all guns because as long as there exists one gun, someone could get killed by it.
It seems to me those who fear guns the most are those who would likely be most dangerous with a gun in their possession. Their fear seems based on their concern about controlling their own emotions and actions. It's sort of like, "I know I can't control myself in a confrontational situation, therefore I cannot imagine anyone else being able to control himself."
