Jesse Jackson: Stimulus Package For Poor Needed

Quote
Jackson told The Greenville News on Monday that the first stimulus package improved the position of some large financial institutions.

But the Greenville native said a second federal stimulus program is needed to help poor people in America.

Jackson said the assumption that banks and other financial institutions would use bailout money to help individuals didn't turn out to be correct.

He said a new federal investment is needed to reach into neighborhoods to save people's home, which would help banks and small business owners.

Mr. Jackson should push to provide Downrange.tv members with a $5000.00 stimulus check.  I know mine would go to American owned, or built in America gun companies, ammo companies and local ranges.  I would sign a release saying the money would go nowhere else but those worthy recipients, and therefore stimulate the economy and contribute to my personal safety, the safety of my family and getting my groups a bit closer.

The stimulus package which would really benefit the poor would involve a j-o-b.  I realize that situations exist where they are required, but for the most part handouts don't help.  They leech from the community and create more dependency on "big brother", while providing nothing in return to the community.  Thank you NAFTA and related ideologies, as well as those that supported them, for assisting in our current abundance of jobs that don't involve asking, "would you like fries with that?".   >:(

Wall Street had little reaction to the increase in jobs given that they were created through printing of money (borrowing from the Chinese.)  They need to realize that real jobs come from companies and people with large levels of income.  Taking money from the evil rich to give it to someone who turns it into nothing will not work.  I am saying that and I ain't rich.

Swoop is right
The best anti-poverty (and anti-crime) program is a healthy ecnomy. Look at the mid Ninties under Clinton, and the mid Eighties under Reagan. Subtract out drug war caused crime and you get both proserity and peace domestically. A 4% unemployment rate under Clinton and record low levels of violence. Those two numbers are linked. It wasn't because he was a great President, but because the private sector was creating jobs. Now, the private sector has screwed up. They were too busy trading paper to build anything of real value. Paper profits and real losses. We should have let those guys fail. The ones who actually built and sold stuff are doing ok. I know its a lot more complicated than that. Still, the basic priniciple is that the market chases profit incentives. If those incentives lead to a climate of sound investment and building a solid industrial base, everyone wins. Jesse Jackson's approach? Just assume that money will fall from the sky. Note to Jesse: The only things that fall from the sky are rain, bird shit and the occasional meteor. You don't want to stand under any of them. ;)
