New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner has died after suffering a massive heart attack at his Tampa home, multiple news sources are reporting.

Tampa Fire Rescue responded to an emergency call Tuesday morning at Steinbrenner's house, according to several news reports. Bay News 9 reports he was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital. A hospital spokeswoman declined to comment.

Steinbrenner died at about 6:30 a.m., according to ESPN.

However, there has not been an official announcement. In fact, as of 10 a.m., the Yankees' own web site was reporting only that Steinbrenner had a heart attack, and this information was attributed to a reprt from WABC in New York.

Steinbrenner, 80, was known nationwide as the controversial and outspoken owner of the New York Yankees, but enjoyed a reputation as a philanthropist in the Tampa Bay area.

I'm not saying the two are related, but he did tear down baseball's cathedral.... Hey, you demolish the house that Ruth built, and I think you have to kinda expect something like this.

Not that it matters but Babe Ruth started his career in Boston and ended his career in Boston.

Go Tigers!

RIP

A true American Capitalist. As Rush stated today, he made many a minority millionaires, and anonymously gave to a multitude of charities.

Except Billy Martin.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.
