FNP-45

I was looking at an FNH FNP-45 (not the tactical) in SS this weekend. Felt good in my hand, but don't know much about
them. Anyone have any experience with FNH?

I don't have any experience with their handguns outside of HiPowers.  That said, I have several FN-designed firearms and overall I think their current lineup is innovative and well made.  FNH is a storied company with a long history of fine designs.  While they aren't my cup of tea, the P90, FiveSeven and the FS2000 are pretty neat designs.

My FN experience is a little more "old school".

I can't speak to the FNP-45 specifically as I have only fondled, er, uhm, held one.  I will say that they are a handful. 

I do, however, own a FNP-9.  This is my most favorite non-1911 handgun.  It is reliable, accurate, and a pleasure to shoot.  I like the ergonomics, balance, and "pointability."  The trigger is crisp in both DA and SA mode.  It eats anything I care to feed it and it is more accurate than I am.

The FNP line is, without a doubt, the most overlooked line of quality handguns and are definitely a bargain for what they usually sell for.  The only drawback that I know of is that their lack of popularity makes finding a holster a little more difficult.  I've been thinking of getting a FNP-40 but I can't quite talk myself into another gun chambered in .40 S&W.

In summary - get it, you wont be sorry.

 The boys over at  Gunblast .com site have a good report on the FNP-45. and it is in the Archive section. They liked it a lot.

It is a handfull, but it is not too much larger than my CZ SP-01.  I have average size hands but it still felt good in my hands.
Think its time for a trip to the gun shop this weekend!

I have a FNP-45 & a FNP-9 (although the wife has pretty much commandeered the 9) and love them. I've been carrying the 45 a lot since my Glock 21 has been gone for almost 3 months for custom work. It's like the best of both worlds, i shoot it like a 1911, carry cocked and locked but it has the good points of the Glock as well. I'll be picking up a FNP-45 tactical as soon as funding permits as well. I think the new FN pistols are the most underrated polymer frame guns on the market. If you shop right you can get insane deals. I know Michael Bane is a big fan of them, he's mentioned them more than a few times.

I feel like the FNP-45 would've won the new military pistol contract if it wasn't cancelled. The only thing I'm not sure about is long term durability but I don't see how it would be any less than a Glock/XD/M&P etc. Our 9 has close to 5000 rds through it. When I first bought it I put 1000 rds of Wolf through it in a day and a half of shooting with no cleaning. It was a mess at the end, the FDE frame was almost all black but I never had a single FTF. I haven't run the 45 that hard yet but have had some 300-500 rd range trips with it. maybe 2500-3000 rds total and no FTF's in it either.

I have been shopping around local and most are pricing it at around $629. Buds has it a little higher at $634.
