That was just a noncommittal piece of pap. Like reading a short story. Doesn't feel real. It was almost like a term paper on both sides of the argument.

+1. But I only noticed one side of the argument.

Okay...I have to readily admit than I am in a bit of a conundrum here after reading the article.

It's like this see...I live in the land of Ill-annoyed...down south by St. Louis...err... by East St. Louis.

Ya, know, Ill-annoyed, People's Republic of...the Land of No-CCW'ing .

Why, heck, crime was so bad here...or near here that ferral dogs were literally walking down the streets of East St. Louis with human body parts in their mouths.

And I was once an intern way back when with Illinois State Police punching all sorts of crime/crime scene data into the FBI's ViCAP program.

but....buuuuttt...I don't feel the need to pack heat here.  I know where to go...or rather where to stay away from and at which times not to be there.

But at the other end of the spectrum, I shoot at least 4 USPSA and/or steel plate matches a month.  I reckon I shot about 7,000 to 8,000 rounds in matches, just matches, in either 2007 or 2008 (just by looking at my USPSA classifier page...all the classifier stages I shot in 2007 or 2008)...whenever, there is a little bit of flare up while I am out and about in public, there is this tiny little voice I hear ( a lot like Magnum P.I.'s voice) that goes, "Shooter, are you ready?  Standby!  BEEEP!"  I have no doubt whatsoever that I could clear a room out, rather quickly, and effectively if the S were to hit the F.

But at the same time, I make it a point to NOT stick my nose in other people's business.

And....AND!!  the one time trouble did find me, it was my X, X brother in law.  He tried to strangle me in the middle of a Sears store.  It was about money and medical bills for my special needs niece after my sister (her mother) died (cancer).

So, it was not UNexpected that I would run into trouble with that guy.  He is/was a bully.

Had we both been in a Sears store in Missouri and I was CCW'ing, he very well could be dead, and I possibly could be in prison.

With all that said above....I gotta ask...has there ever been a thread here where people/members here who CCW talked about their run-ins that they had while they were packing heat?

Mainly, I am just curious how the situation(s) evolved, were de-escaluated, and/or devolved rapidly.

Am I liberal?  NO!  not by any stretch of the imagination.

Am I in condition white the whole time?  Just when I am asleep.  Otherwise my Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) system is working full time....sizing people up...speculating on their intentions ...all within a second or two of spotting them.
