I just picked up a XDm9 in a trade and being a 20+ year almost daily Glock carrier I didn't really want to like it. I figured I'd end up trading it pretty quickly. The funny thing is I went and shot it today and I have to admit I really like it. I still don't see a need for the grip safety, kind of redundant and makes it a bit uglier but the thing shoots. I can't believe I'm saying this but out of the box stock to stock this thing is a much better shooter than a stock Glock 17. It won't touch any of my Glocks I've done work to but that's comparing apples to apple pie. I would like to change the sights (although that at least seem to be metal) and I hear that can be a real challenge, I don't love the fact that mags are $30 and it doesn't fit into any holster I own so I'll be needing to order another Serpa at the very least and maybe some leather if it keeps growing on me.
My biggest issue is the trigger, better than a stock Glock trigger but nothing like my modified Glocks. Does anyone have any experience with any of the aftermarket trigger options (not even sure how many there are at this point) for it? Is the trigger in the XDm different than the older XD? I'm not so concerned about the pull weight which was just a hair under 5# on my Timney scale which is more than acceptable for a stock trigger on a carry/duty pistol. I'd just like to clean it up a bit, mostly the creep. I haven't even pulled the slide off to clean it yet, are the internals anything like a Glock where I can polish some contact points to smooth it out? Are there any shorter disconnectors available for it? Thanks in advance for any help.
