BUT, and this is significant, if the populace is disarmed effectively, it will no longer matter if the masses have a sense of entitlement or even if they are supported by the gummint, they can withhold food and supplies like Stalin did and starve troublesome parts of the population out of existence.

Good points all, tomboggan, made me stop and think. I like that.

 

Oh yes, another point I wanted to get in (really 2) First is that they CAN"T disarm all the people, look at DC or NY or  Chicago or LA,  Some one on another thread said the only way to completely eliminate guns is to uninvent them. They can be hidden in advance,or made in a home workshop, I used to work at Thompson Center so I know how easy it is to make GOOD QUALITY firearms, (Next time you can't get to sleep, work it out for yourself) many places already gang members and criminals are stealing them from cops homes and Cruisers, for that matter a bow and arrows are even easier to make have no identifying features like rifling or casings and no report to give away your position. Which brings me to my second point, in most of America store bought food is mostly a modern convenience,sure you would miss out on coffee (rats !) sugar and a few other luxuries but basic survival would generally not be a problem, besides, if starving Americans was easy Jenny Craig and Richard Simmons would be the first to go !
OK now for the REST of the worlds problems.
