Here's the link to the FL. Carry Group Sponsoring the Leg.

and the Petition, which they do verify.

The 20 years I spent in N.C. (an O.C. State), I can tell you it's a sticky widget, double-edged sword.....

There are rural parts of N.C. where it is culturally accepted, and not a big deal. However, there are liberal cities, Chapel Hill, Greensboro, Charlotte, and others, where someone will call 911, just to get you harassed and possibly charged with the infamous:

"Brandishing to the terror of the public"...

Even if the charge is dismissed, a PITA officer, not all, but they are in every dept. will confiscate your gun, turn it over to a lib D.A. and make you go through some hoops to get your piece back.

My S&W Model 411, in .40 was confiscated in NC, during a traffic stop, in which I complied and notified the LEO I was armed. I was given my speeding ticket, and a receipt for my pistol, and had to go to the Highway Patrol Division Headquarters, meet a specific Capt. and abide by his limited schedule to pick it up.  Ammo in one bag, two mags in another, pistol in another, holster in another.

I did get it back but damn what a pain... >:(

IMHO, I prefer concealed, but signed the FL petition, and support open carry. It should be a law abiding gun owners choice, regardless.

But boy would it scare the Yankee transplant "blue hairs".... ::)

I agree with that 100%.....
I am very pro CCW (for obvious reasons), but like many things it should be up to the people. With an actual steadfast "open carry" law on the books, a person should be covered if carrying CCW and the gun prints or 'shows'.
Heck, in my personal opinion, the law of the land should deem it OK to carry a gun in any manner if you are legal to purchase one in the first place (which is a different topic altogether).

I applaud Florida's (and also Texas) for setting many of the precedents in the 'surge' in CCW's wave over the last 20 years or so. Many states have followed Florida laws.

Already on it. I can never see myself doing it, unless I'm camping or the like, but it would be nice to wear a belt holster under a jacket or something and not worrying about it showing. Plus, there's the principle of the thing. Scaring the yankee retirees is just gravy. ;D
