I'm kinda torn about this one....
First, in order to keep a constitutional republic honest, we need guys like Assange who reveal state secrets to the public. You can't have a gov't operate secret programs without some type of accountability. Think of all the Cuban Missle Crisis, Agent Orange, and Tuskegee Experiment info that would have been hidden forever if someone hadn't leaked it to the public. Information is power....and it's up to an informed American public to keep the American gov't power in check....
That said, what Assange did was absolutely reprehensible. He put the lives of a lot of people in danger when a little White-Out would have gone a long way. I can't even give him a pass for ignorance....he intended to get these people killed. IMHO, he's a co-conspirator to any deaths that result from this....and he should be punished for that. As for his Internet cronies....wait until they see what our IT-types can do with Stuxnet.....
