Fired High Point 45 Carbine

Out at pistol night last night and a friend brought in a new High Point 45 carbine. I fired a magazine(9rounds I think) through it.

It felt great as far as size and weight...nice little rifle. Recoil was enough to know you were firing but not enough to bother...especially with the spring loaded buttstock. At 25 yds with the red dot that comes with it I put most of the shots near bullseye after two fliers.  One thing I didn't like is the silly bolt catch you have to pull out to release. AND we had to push on the magazine release to get the magazine into the gun.
Other than that a real FUN gun to shoot.

The best part was after I fired that I went up with my 1911 and shot better with it...three bulleyes at 25 yds. I love that gun...

Hi;

     I have   1- 9mm, 3 - .40 carbines and look forward to getting a .45 carbine, also in the inventory is 6 - 40 pistols. I have 4 pistols to sight in yet due to the cold weather. They are fun to shoot and the only problem is with the magazines. It must be different contractors making them because as you load the individual mags - you can just feel that this one will need adjustment to get it right.

     I have heard that some Rugers have the same problem. When people cuss at the hi-Point they do not know it is a Mag adjustment that is 99% of the problem - that is how/why I got some great deals on other peoples misunderstandings of Hi-point.

     When I get done with a few other firearm buys, I will be looking for the .45 carbine for sure.

Does the High Point accept any other Magazines , like Glock 33 rounders ?
Co worker just bought one in 9mm.

Not sure...the 45 mag looked pretty odd. Their mags are only $12-15 online though.

Does anyone know why they don't offer hi-cap mags? Is it some Bill Ruger PC thing or is there a mechanical reason? I just don't get it.
FQ13 who would probably own one if I could get a 20 rounder, and would own two if they'd take Glock mags. Who is writing their business plan? Do they not understand who they are selling to?

FQ, they probably do it that way so they can just pack and ship without worrying that big mags will go to the wrong state.

I know Pro Mag makes a 15 rd mag for the 9mm carbine. the feed lips usually need "adjusted" for them to work reliably. I have the 9mm and it's a blast, pretty accurate too out to 100 yards.

I know there were issues with aftermarket magazines that held more rounds. I believe it was discussed on this forum?

I really liked the Hi-Point 995 9mm that I owned. Would really like to get the .45 version and curious as to why Jaybet and his buds had an issue getting the magazine back in? One of the reasons I am holding off till the bugs are worked out.
