I understand that Presidents need to be multi-taskers and handle more than one thing at a time from any location. My complaint is that this President shows no sign of being on top of anything. I think back to the days, weeks and months following September 11, 2001 and leading up to our military action. Pres. GWB did many things in many locations, but he kept us informed that something was going on, and he gave us glimpses of what was happening. When he met with foreign leaders we sometimes heard specifics of what they were up to or at least a general idea that Iraq or Afghanistan were being discussed. This President is either doing a lot and looking stupid through his lack of engagement or is as stupid as he looks.
As a citizen I do not need to know all the details or even most of the details. What I need to know is that our leadership is actually paying attention! And I'm sorry, but when you are fighting two wars, have sent messages to three countries to clean up their act, have a friend in the middle of a huge natural disaster and a potential catastrophic failure of a nuclear plant, have threatened a country with military action, and have a national economy that looks like the old juggler with the spinning rings on sticks from the Ed Sullivan show you do not take a family vacation - much less take it out of the country. I understand you need a movie night or a break on the ball court or even on the golf course for an afternoon. But you need to be fully engaged in this country until the teeter totter is at least leaning back in our favor.
For as great a communicator as Pres. BHO is and as poor a communicator that Pres. GWB appeared to be, the present President is doing nothing to make us feel like he has a full understanding of anything that is happening. When the former President addressed us you either felt the assurance that he was aware of where we were, or that he had some gaps of unknown but he was working to figure it out. Hey Mr. President - Hug your wife, hug your girls, and tell them that it is going to be some long hard days and nights at the office, and that you will be back to them as soon as possible!
Rant too long and off for now
