I guess the operator then puts down the magazine he had been reading and springs into action?


Actually it sounds like this system might be more useful in Air Traffic Control Towers where there is a recent incident of the sole Air Traffic Controller being asleep with traffic inbound.  They already have all the radar they need pre-installed and ready to go.   Just need to hook up the buzzer.
