The government gets away with what it does because it's easier for us to let the government take care of us than for us to take care of ourselves. There are people in the middle east who, for whatever their reasons, are standing up to their governments and demanding change. We get someone who promises change and what we get before he's elected is the" SOS different day" politics when he picks a life long politician for his running mate. I know this is disjointed but what I'm getting at is we, as a country, need to be more proactive and stop putting up with this crap. The problem there is, again, it's easier to just let it go. "It's not my job. Someone else will take care of it. They always do."

Apathy will always solve the problem just wait and see.

"We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and now if I am wrong somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosper. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises. I say after eight years of this administration, we have just as much unemployment as when we started. And enormous debt to boot."
Henry Morgenthau, May 1938, FDR's Treasury Secretary

The Liberal Progressive Movement has done very well at categorizing its citizens. The poor, the disenfranchised, the middle class, the conservative christian, pro/anti this, or pro/anti that, almost anyone can be subset into a any category EXCEPT:

An American..... Unity amongst citizens removes power from the gov't. Both parties are enabling a subsequent separation of one Nation Under God, and this is the result.

A polarized nation, with one bad choice for gov't, or one even worse choice for gov't.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

It would be nice not to have a Manchurian Candidate, or just another plastic idiot get to Washington.

A people that values its privileges above its principles will soon lose both.
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

A polarized population has produced some of this country's most memorable moments:
Bull Run,
Shiloh,
Antietam,
Gettysburg,

Along a similar line of spending money taken out of the pockets of the everyday citizen.

Article in today's local rag.
I will say, we're a pretty lean county.  Lowest millage rate of the big 4 Atlanta counties.    I feel sorry for the workers, but then I feel sorry for all the other people in my county who are un- or under-employed.

MARIETTA - Cobb County commissioners say they don't want to close the $31 million, or nearly 10 percent, budget shortfall by raising taxes. But many of the 4,239 people employed full-time by the county seem to be asking, "Why not?"

Every time a person accepts a government "benefit" they give up part of their God given rights, and become evermore dependent upon, and beholden to, their government benefactor.
Rights are like muscles, when they are not exercised they atrophy.
