Troy Calmore Brake Weight ?
« on: April 18, 2011, 09:41:29 PM »
I understand that the Noveske 'Flaming Pig' Brake weighs about 8oz or so, any input on the Claymore?
Best Wishes, Mike.

Nowhere near that, I don't have an exact weight but I don't notice any difference over an A2 installed. If I had to guess I'd say about the same as a Phantom, no more than an ounce more than the Phantom.

If you really wanted a KX3 style there are other companies making near exact copies starting around $50 if you do a web search.

I was thinking it might be doublestar or somebody like that. It was definitely a company that makes a decent number of build parts that had it. I wish I would've bookmarked it when I saw it because it was sort of found on a backdoor type search for something else. I think I saw it when I was searching for flash hider options for my grendel.

maybe something like this one? :

http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/n=y/pid=41066/Product/CARLSON_ADJUSTABLE_MUZZLE_BRAKE?avad=avant

That actually looks pretty cool but the one('s) I saw were basically exact copies in appearance to the KX3 without the Noveske name or pig on it. I'll try to see if I can find it again. There were more than one company making it but I recalled one being a brand I've used in the past like Doublestar.

You were pretty close, it's the Doublestar Hawg: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/default.aspx?productNumber=816788 The other one I was thinking about was the Carlson Tac-Comp: http://www.carlsoncompsinc.com/Tac_Comp.htm
Both look like they'll do about the same job as the Noveske. I unfortunately feel like I need the real flaming pig for my next build since it's a Noveske Diplomat build but I plan to try out both of these in the future.

Cool, thanks bafsu !

That 'HAWG' looks like it will work and it's about $30 cheaper than the Claymore, I have a pending order due from Midway anyway so I guess I'll add that. Happy Easter!
