Okay, IDPA, USPSA and GSSF allow fiber optics, so I've put some HiViz sights on my Glock.
It all came today, the HiViz sights, the holster and mag pouches AND the Glock tool with the thin-walled 3/16 nut driver for removing the front sight. MidwayUSA's web sight has the wrong picture for the HiViz Glock sight. They show a dovetail sight, which is wrong. Glocks have a small bolt that screw into the front sight from inside the slide. Installation was a breeze.
Now for those who've not used FO sights. I offer this little picture lesson sights.
[Just an FYI: When there is very low light, neither regular painted sights nor FO are of much use. In those cases you must go with a glow in the dark sight such as Trijicon.]
Here's the original Glock white dot with with outline sight when light is from behind the shooter. Great sight picture.

Now here's what happen when there's still light but it from the front and you're not lit from behind.
If the target is still light then the partridge sites are usable, but you loose the white.

Now let's put on Fiber Optics.
Lit from behind (or all over).

Now with light only from the front. (Actually in this picture the light is all directed at the target from a source about 3 feet in front of the gun.) Not as good as when lit from above, but still very visible.
