Black Friday sales for us?
« on: November 22, 2011, 08:20:04 PM »
Okay, the Black Friday thing has gotten silly. As far as I can tell, most department stores opened at midnight yesterday. ::) But enough about them, what about us? Who is having serious sales? Midway has some serious daily deals going on a number of great products through next Monday including Remington Golden Sabre in various calibers. Downside is that its day specific (.45 Wednesday and 9mm on Friday kind of thing).  Gander seems to have nada, neither does Bud's. Any leads?

Honestly, this kind of mystifies me. Think about it. We KNOW, the wife will be out of the house all day. We know we can get to the store and back (even the gun store) quicker than she can. We also know that even if she catches us coming home, we can talk about what a great deal we got. Then we can look at her three loads of shopping bags and ask sweetly "So how much did you save today"? And for one day out of the year?  We're home free! ;D Where are the deals for the Bro's?

I refuse to acknowledge the term "Black Friday"!

How do you you take the day after our National Holiday recognizing our thankfulness for all God has given us, and at the beginning of the season recognizing the birth of our Savior and market it based on the violence and hate surrounding materialism?

I am more than very disappointed to see the Potterfields jump on the bandwagon, and with all that said I will let this subject continue on without my rants  >:(

FQ13 who will be going straight to hell, but I want to be strapped when I go. So, I will also include the "I've got a great deal on .556, even if others think I'm shallow dance". ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

M58, do you know why the day after Christmas is called "Boxing day" ?
I'll give you a hint, it has nothing to do with Cassius Clay, or Mike Tyson.

I know both the original and the modern materialistic version.

... violence and hate surrounding materialism? ...

It might just be a matter of perspective.  We can celebrate the true meaning of the season in our hearts while at the same time helping the wheels of capitalism turn.  Businesses hire people to make, package, deliver, stock, and sell the cornucopia of goodies sold during this time of year.  Instead of focusing on the materialism I think we should focus on the capitalism... putting people to work, infusing our economy with money, and bringing smiles to the people we love.   :)

Boxing day is the day you repack the presents that didn't fit or for some other reason, will be returned.
And if you try to go to a mall for any reason after Thanksgiving, you soon understand where the phrase "Black Friday" originated.
( To the best of my knowledge it was never used before malls became widespread. )

I have NEVER shopped on Black Friday as a matter of principle for not being in a huge crowd, but these jerks almost make it a matter of priniciple to go out shopping http://www.cnbc.com/id/45402815
